J.M. Tasende

After WW II, Angela Tasende, brought her young son to the American continent.  They initially settle in Guadalajara in 1946 and then made a move to Mexico City two years later.  Beginning in 1953 J.M. Tasende travels extensively  between Acapulco, Mexico City, cities in Florida and Tijuana as a professional Jai-Alai player.  He retires from this profession to open his first art gallery in Acapulco in 1966.  Gradually he moves his dealer activities to the United States and in 1979 he inaugurates the first Tasende Gallery in La Jolla, California where he resides with his family.  In 1984 he became an American citizen.  In the late 1990’s he began keeping notes for a catalogue project for an exhibition in his West Hollywood gallery.  Those notes would eventually become the basis of the manuscript for this book.
